iPhone Vs iRobot(Android)
Android SDK for developers released recently. checkout google blog post to know more.
It got a mixed review in the blogosphere. But in my opinion, google did a great job. And currently released SDK is java based. checkout my first program in that kit.(i used plain editor..not eclipse)
yea...this is the first question everyone asks after reading those links..how it differs from j2me???? this blog has a wonderful answer for that question..
"Kind of like telling someone they have to stay in their hotel room on vacation (J2ME) and giving them free reign of an entire resort (Android)."
that's true..checkout this simple API, you will come to know how deep you can work on this.. http://code.google.com/android/reference/android/telephony/gsm/SmsMessage.html
detailed system-architecture diagram here ....
very soon, someone will write a hack to support an existing j2me MIDP apps to run in this environment!!! (this is also my guess :-))
Join this group, if you are a mobile(java!!!) developer & want to explore more in this area. http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers?hl=en
really interesting times ahead...

iPhone Mania
Much hyped "iPhone" is out. A lot of reviews & lot of issues(!) too.. I don't have a iPhone to write a review about that product. If i were in USA, i should have one.hmm...that's ok.
Checkout the review from the below sites..
Lifehacker started listing top 10 iPhone apps.
Top 10 iPhone applications
no J2ME support & no FLASH support(till now...flash is coming soon..!!!!)..but still it provides a big opportunity for java developers..checkout this below link to know more..
Is the iPhone an Opportunity for Java Developers?
Btw, who is going to write a first killer app for iPhone???

I am really scared..
Its really a wonderful video to watch & do some action now..whenever i receive any mails regarding GLOBAL WARMING, I just read it & throw it into my trash folder.
But this video makes me to think alot about this issue..
""I don't think we're going to make it," John Doerr proclaims, in an emotional talk about climate change and investment."

AppleTV
I love to read Steve's quotes and also collecting that list..recently when I was watching this interview found one..
“That makes Apple one of the biggest developers of Windows software around,” Walt observes. Jobs: “That’s right. … It’s like offering a glass of ice water to people in hell.”

simple & useful
For last one month, i am thinking how to have a mail signature with my blog URL. The problem here is, I have more than one blog & member in alot of social websites.
Do i need to list all the sites in the signature or ?
Recently I found this site which is nothing but a collection of my profiles in the web..checkout that
http://profilefly.com/duraionly
So, from hereafter i will use only this link as my mail signature which leads to all my blogs & myspace link..
what do you say?

Web Links
I am just listing the links which I bookmarked recently . especially i decided to write a post after seeing this link.
Java popularized object-oriented programming and introduced many important new ideas. It’s used daily by many practicing computer scientists and will probably continue to be one of the dominant languages in use for at least another decade.....
Canada honors Gosling for Java
nothing to say more...he deserved it.
This is really a cool tool which occupies one tab in my firefox browser ....its simple(only text) and very powerful
Digg Spy - A Real-Time View of Activity
if anyone asks me to write an essay about WISDOM & INTELLIGENCE, I can't write it more than 10 lines..but check this link..amazing(for me, this page looks like a thesis/research paper on that topic :-))
the relationship between wisdom and intelligence
i used to read alot of books which speaks about customer satisfaction or customer thrill or...etc. but this link has some interesting tips. Check the 4th point "4. Take the blame" [Saying “it’s my fault” was completely out of character - wow !!]
Seven steps to remarkable customer service...
Web2.0 : 25 startups to watch
See the employee headcount in each company listed in that link..that's really stunning..Does it convey any message to you?
Btw, can you able to judge who will become the next myspace or youtube from that list??? and also i thought surely one big company(obviously google/yahoo) will buy couple of services from that list..and at the same time i found this link which is completely contradictory with my statement..
Great companies are built by entrepreneurs who want to change the world. They have a basic belief that they will be rewarded for either defining a new market or redefining an old one. They do not want to be bought by Google or Yahoo!, they want to be the next Google or Yahoo!.

New Year (web2.0) Wishes
Belated new year wishes to all. continue from my previous post, no changes in my blog vision :-) I will maintain this space for an interesting external links and my comment about that topic.
This season popular blog posts are PREDICTIONS & RESOLUTION..I will also do the same here.
I too thought of writing a prediction list..but in the net, I found couple of links(below links) which comes close to my listing..that is,
ok..my prediction part post is over(how easy it is!!!!...:-))..next my resolution part..this time no long 'to-do' list items . simply 2 wishes,
a) finish my previous year pending wishlist. (personal)
b) research on WEB2.0 products. (official)
I think, the first wishlist will continue for every year.don't know exactly how to explain that....let me give a try.."I can't live my life fixing a deadline because I am a human being"(nice escape ..is it?? but if you think again, its partially true). So, I can try to reduce that atleast not growing much every year.( If anyone asks me more about this topic, I will explain it in a next post..but its a complete philosophical post. If you are ready for that, then write it as a comment in my blog)
Regarding my second wish list, its bit easy because I am already a regular user of most of the WEB2.0 products. User is more different from Researcher..am I correct? So,initially I thought of finding the best 2 products in each category and start doing my research. But the below link helped me not to do that too(thanks to internet/google..:-)).
The new 100 most useful sites
So, every day browse and find what's common or unique in each products listed there. Addition of that alot more other research too..how the page UI designed & what's the technology platform..etc. For a developer, what's the benefit will I get if I do this?..I don't know. I will learn something new..that's it.
some one told me this year is 'James Bond' year ..2(007 )...lets enjoy more thrill and fun this year..wishes to all again.
